Tilicho Lake Trek is one of the most enriching short treks one can take in Nepal. It is a journey to Lake Tilicho, the highest glacial lake in the Himalayas of Nepal. Surrounded by the High Himalayas, Lake Tilicho rests high at 4,949 meters just beneath Mt. Tilicho (7,134m) in the most isolated part of the Annapurna region.
Starting from Besisahar, we trek along the bank of the Marshyandi river making stops at Dharapani, Chame, Pisang, Manang, and Khangsar Village, before reaching Tilicho Base Camp for the final approach to Tilicho Lake. During the Tilicho lake trek, you may see numerous peaks, including Mt. Dhaulagiri 8,167 Meters, Mt. Manaslu 8153 Meters, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, Chulu East and West, and Thorong Peak.
The pristine lake at high altitude is one of nature’s most beautiful and expressive features, which is why many tourists who choose the popular Annapurna Circuit Trek add a few days to explore this hidden gem. With spectacular scenery scattered along the paths, you will get close-up views of the Annapurna’s and Mt. Manaslu in all their magnificence. Experience the Manangi culture, come across stunning waterfalls, and stroll through the expansive alpine valley of Manang which is home to a wide range of flora and fauna.
We spend time beside the serene lake, admiring, a form of natural therapy to achieve our sense of calm and get to our own great depths (Unless you want to dare the highest-ever altitude scuba dive which has been previously recorded here, or ice skating in the Frozen Lake during the winters).
One aspect of this trek is that trekkers’ have the option of retracing their way back from Manang, or as per their interest choose to combine with the traditional Annapurna Circuit Trek and advance their way over the Throng La Pass (5,416m) towards the stunning Mustang region.
